Vulnerable Beauty

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007

Naomi Wolf in her famous book “The Beauty Myth” says that women are constantly concerned about their appearance, as beauty is only temporary, because it is always changing with every seasonal style trend. Women are concerned about their bodies more than about anything other. In modern cosmetology there are a lot of means and ways of making women more sexual and beautiful.

Women’s bodies are more vulnerable than the beauty ideals they imitate because their bodies are seen as mere commodities or things. Because of the projections of these images in media, most women become more and more conscious about their bodies, so they become huge consumers on the cosmetic market. Due to the propaganda of different diets and methods of being slim, women are very much concerned about their appearance. Testament to the fact women are the inferior sex, they are converted to believe hat their bodies are naturally imperfect. They begin to idealize some female forms and do not understand that each woman is beautiful in her own way.

If woman does not wear make up and is not reading fashion magazines, it does not mean that she is not feminine or shows her masculine features as many people consider. It is human nature to take care of body and use cosmetics. If all the women stop using cosmetics to wear make up and stop to be interested in fashion, then such profitable markets as cosmetic and fashion will be failed. Statistics showed that the inner state of the women’s bodies influence their mood and self-esteem. Every woman must feel beautiful and necessary as beauty and sexuality are inevitable parts of women’s nature. For many centuries women were the embodiment of femininity and beauty, they were the source of inspiration for many great artists and poets.
